Kamenashi Kazuya is a loner and silent student in Seirin Academy. He never make friends with anyone since he entered the said school. Every time someone would approach him, he would just ignore them.
One day, a new transferee has came to the school, a boy named Akanishi Jin. He’s a cheerful and fun-loving guy. He gained many friends at the very first day of his class there.
While having his lunch break with his new found friends, his attention was caught by Kame who was eating not too far away from their place.
“What’s his name? Why won’t he join us here?”, he asked Junnosuke referring to Kame.
“Who? Kamenashi-san?”, Junno looked at where Akanishi is staring, “He’s like that. He never talk to anyone. Even to our teachers… unless it’s related to subject matters.”
“He is also the richest student here…” added Nakamaru.
Akanishi nodded upon hearing their story. He can’t figure it out, but he could sense that Kame is not a bad person. He sees something in his eyes… something everyone seems not to notice at all.
“Why did you ask?”, Ueda questioned while munching a cookie he took from Junno’s snack.
“H-huh? Ahmm.. I’m just wondering. Never mind me..”, Akanishi stood up from his seat and told them that he’ll be doing something.

Kame finished his lunch in a quick manner and decided to go to the school’s roof top where he usually stay.
He opened the door to the roof top and stood there, staring at the wide sky. This is what he likes the most, freedom and silence. A place far from people’s eyes, expectations and judgments.
“You also love this place?”, a voice from behind surprised Kame.
He took a glimpse to know who it is.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I— I was really heading here. And, I saw the door already open so I entered” , it’s Akanishi who panic a bit when Kame glared at him without saying anything, “By the way, I’m Akanishi Jin.”, He went close to Kame and laid his palm in front of him top offer shake hands.
“Why did you follow me?”
The question came as cold as ice.
Jin smiled and answered, “I was thinking, maybe you need some company. I want to make friends with you.”
“I don’t need you here. Get lost.”
Jin placed his hands inside his pocket and sighed.
“Why are you so cynical? Everybody needs a friend. A friend to share happy and sad moments with. A friend you can lean on when everything isn’t going your way…”
“You’re spoiling my day, do you know that?”, Kame faced him, “This is the last time you’ll disturb me.” After saying it, he went out of the door leaving Jin puzzled.

After a few days, Jin didn’t bother Kame again. He’s thinking of a better way to get close to him.
But fate made it easy for him…
“Hey guys, guess what? We’re going to have our annual camping this coming Saturday. It is posted in the school’s official bulletin.” Koki, the class president, informed his classmates.
Everybody began to be excited on the news, except for Kame.
Akanishi knew it.
“Junno, that camping thing, is it a requirement?”, he asked.
“Yeah. It is. Everyone is required to join. Besides, its an enjoyable occasion.”, Junno answered.
“Yokata… That means Kame is sure to come with us.”, he blurted out.
“Did you ay something?”, Junnosuke leaned closer. He didn’t hear what Jin had said because their classmates were too noisy.
“No, nothing. I’m just excited for the camping.”

Saturday came. Seirin Academy’s students arrived early at the school for the camping. They rode a bus for the trip.
Jin seated where Kame went. The trip was pretty long that’s why the students sang some songs to seize the day. Jin volunteered to sing a very romantic song. Everyone teased him because he has a very good voice and he looks in love while singing it.
Kame was actually moved Jin’s voice and song. But he pretended as if it doesn’t matter to him. When Jin returned by his side, he smirked at him and put his attention outside the window.
The camping was set on mountain side. It wasn’t long before they had built their own tents. The camp master allowed them to explore the place, on the condition that they should return on a given time.
Kame made his own way apart from where his classmates had gone. He walked through a narrow wood. While walking, he suddenly was reminded of Jin’s voice and the song he sang a few hours ago. His lips turned to a smile, and he sang the same song to himself.
He was unaware that Jin followed him. Jin was really determined to make friends with him.
Kame suddenly felt his presence and was surprise to see that he was just a few distance behind him.
“Darn… How long have you been there?”, he made his steps faster so Jin won’t reach him.
“Hey, Kame-san… Don’t you think it’d be better if we’ll join the others?”
“Join them yourself!”, Kame shouted.
“You know what, I had once got lost on a place like this when I was a kid. I’m really scared that time.”, Jin laughed while trying to catch up to Kame’s phase.
“Stupid…”. Kame silently commented.
“But by looking at it now, I find it suiting to stay here.”
Too occupied with his talking, Jin wasn’t aware that he is about to step on a soft spot of the ground. He lost his balance and he fell down on the mountain side since they’re walking on a higher path.
Kame, on the other hand, wondered why it suddenly became silent. He turned around only to see Jin rolling down among the trees, helpless. He was so shocked and he hurriedly ran towards him.
“Jin!”, he panicked. But it was too late.
Jin bumped on a big tree. His hands and forehead is bleeding.
“JIN!! JIN!! Are you alright?”, Kame asked so worried. He put Jin’s head on his lap and attended to his wounded head. He used his handkerchief to stop the bleeding… he didn’t notice that he’s almost crying.
“Jin-san, answer me for God’s sake…”
